The Annunciation
Gabriel came to Mary and told her that she was going to have a son “and he shall be
called the most high; he shall be named Jesus.” The angel said that the Holy
Spirit will come over her and she will be filled by the Holy Spirit. She said
that she will do as God says.

The Visitation Mary
Mary goes to visit her cousin, Elizabeth, to tell her the news that she will bear a
son and to see how she is doing because she is pregnant with a child soon to be
called John the Baptist. When Mary entered Elizabeth’s home the child leapt in
Elizabeth’s womb and she was overjoyed. That day she realized that the child
Mary would have would be the Son of God, the Messiah.

The Presentation
Mary and Joseph took the new born baby Jesus to be presented to the Lord
at the Temple. It is a Jewish law that every male new born child must be taken
to the temple and an animal to be sacrificed. The animal to be sacrificed is a
lamb but they couldn’t afford one, so Joseph brought two doves instead to be
sacrificed. A man named Simeon was at the Temple and saw baby Jesus and took him
in his arms and praises God and blesses Mary and Joseph. Simeon told Mary that
Jesus would be the rise and fall of Israel.

The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
Jesus and his parents traveled to Jerusalem
as they did every year for the feast of Passover. While traveling back home they
realized Jesus was missing. They finally made their way back to Jerusalem
finding Jesus in front of teachers in the Temple who were amazed at his
understanding and answers since he was only a twelve year old boy. When they
found him Mary said “I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” Jesus
replied “why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my
father’s house?” Jesus was
obedient to his parents, and left with them.
